In the 1980s, our family was approved as a homestead and built a new house at the foot of the mountain far from the main village. There were 11 neighbors in the surrounding area. Our houses are planned in a unified way and all have flat roofs. This kind of flat roof is very practical, we no longer need to go to the yard and the road to dry food.
The crops are harvested and returned home and transported directly to the roof of the house. Our children are frequent visitors on the roof, and we are rushed by our parents when nothing happens to be "scarecrows" to scare sparrows.
My house has a wooden ladder, but I don’t climb the ladder on the roof. I climb on the yard wall by stepping on the chicken coop, then climb from the yard wall to the flat house to build on the concrete rain, and then climb from the rain to the roof.
Accompanying me to "climb" on the roof are the little book, radio and water. I was sitting in the grain on a roof, playing and being a "scarecrow", and when my neighbor next door also climbed up on the roof of my house, when they saw me, they came to gather on the roof of my house. Although we gathered on the roof of a house, we could take care of our own house. When a sparrow fell down and wanted to eat food, we stood up and clapped our hands and shouted a few times. The timid sparrow was scared away.
In addition to frightening the sparrows, we are also in charge of drying the grain, several times a day. After the parents get off work in the afternoon, we have to help them pack up the food on the roof to prevent them from getting wet by the dew at night. In this way, the day's work is finished.
Of course, sometimes before the parents get off work, the weather suddenly turns overcast and there is a sign of rain, we will hurriedly pile up the grain and cover it with plastic sheeting. The most annoying thing is that the rain did not arrive as expected. Just after the grain was covered, the sun appeared in the sky, and we had to spread the grain again. But this kind of weather is always rare, and most of the time it is still sunny, so we can enjoy our travels.
Sitting on the roof is also a "travel". As the sky is high, our "travel" is as far away. Look, one by one white clouds, in different shapes, are floating in the blue sky. We clasped our eyes with the sky and embraced the white clouds. Standing on the flat roof and looking around, every yard is a moving landscape: the pomegranate tree of the neighbor in the front is covered with red fruits; the neighbor in the back has flowers for half of the yard; a cat lying on the right He slept soundly on the bicycle seat of the neighbor's house. Looking far away, the mountains in the distance are majestic, and the eyes are full of green; under the mountains are large crops and vegetable fields, and there are still crops that have not been harvested, standing upright like a group of soldiers, waiting for the review of the farmers; the red pepper in the vegetable field Now, there are a few old pumpkins sleeping on the pumpkin vine...
At that time, there were many children and few rooms in the house, and the roof was the best place for meeting friends. We can avoid our parents, avoid our brothers and sisters, and go out on the roof to talk about it. That's really nice.
I remember that one autumn, the eldest brother of the neighbor Yanyan had a girlfriend, and the eldest brother Yanyan led his girlfriend to climb to the roof. They peeled peanuts on the roof, peeling and peeling, peeling them all afternoon, and they would not come down until dinner time. Yanyan wanted to climb on the roof and call them to eat. Yanyan's mother grabbed her and said, "Don't disturb, they will come down naturally when they are hungry." Later, our children realized that they were peeling peanuts, that they were in a relationship! For young men and women who have known each other recently, the roof is indeed a good place to get to know each other.
The time on the roof hides a lot of our fun and dreams. We are looking into the distance from the roof, planning to cross mountains and rivers one day in the future to see the outside world. One daydream after another grew and spread on the flat roof. Later, the old village was renovated, and the houses were built higher and higher, and no one would see any other houses drying food on the roof. We could only look at the autumn colors of that roof in our memories.
Nowadays, when I am wandering for half my life, when I am tired, I most want to climb on the roof of my hometown, bask in the autumn, and bask in myself.
