In 1770, German philosopher Immanuel Kant wanted to hire an assistant for himself after he was awarded a professorship at Konigsberg University. After the news was sent, applicants gathered. After half a month of investigation, two young people finally entered Kant's vision.
Both of these young people are very good. One of them is taller, with careful thinking and strong logic; the other is lower, who likes to seek innovation and is full of vitality. However, due to limited conditions, it is impossible for Kant to recruit both of them as his assistants. He can only reluctantly choose one of them, and the other will leave disappointed.
However, choosing which one of them in the end made Kant difficult. After thinking about it for a long time, in the end, to be fair, Kant planned to give them a test question. On the day of the exam, Kant filled a large bathtub with water, and placed two empty buckets, one large and one small, next to him.
Finally, he called the two young people to him and said to them: "Which one can scoop up all the water in the bathtub in the shortest time, I will choose him as an assistant." The
tall young man listened. After that, he immediately walked to the bathtub, holding the small bucket in his hand, quickly and quickly scooped out the water in the bathtub, and then poured it into the large bucket. When he did this, his actions were consistent and done in one go. In the end, he successfully scooped out all the water in the bathtub in only two and a half minutes.
When it was the low young man’s turn, he didn’t like the one before, trying to scoop up the bathtub with buckets of water. He came to the bathtub unhurriedly, bent down, and stretched out his hand. Pulling out the piston at the bottom of the bathtub, standing up, he glanced at the tall man triumphantly, and laughed at the other's dullness in his heart: "What age is it, only fools can do coolies. Don't you know, success depends on It's just wisdom?" The low young man felt that he seemed to have a chance to win.
However, what he didn't dream of was that the sewer seemed to be blocked by something, and it was not flowing smoothly at all. Seeing that two minutes had passed, two-thirds of the water in the bathtub did not flow out. The low young man suddenly became flustered and anxious. By the time he thought about grabbing the small wooden bucket around him and scooping water, three or four minutes had passed, not to mention how frustrated he was. It is conceivable that in the end the low young man ended in failure.
Kant saw everything in his eyes, and finally he took the low young man's hand and said sincerely: "Although you have not been my assistant, I want to send you a word: No matter when, hard work is itself a kind of The safest wisdom.”
In this world, you do need wisdom to behave in the world. However, opportunism can only be regarded as cleverness, but it can never accomplish a big cause. And those who work hard on the ground, no matter how difficult things are, he can get the final success.
